Do I need a home inspection?

So, I'm getting ready to purchase a home, do I need a home inspection?

That's a very good question with a very simple answer. The answer is yes, you do need a home inspection.

You may have walked through the home. You may have even looked in the attic and the crawl space. But, did you check the insulation? Did you check for signs of pests? Did you check all the outlets? Did you check all the appliances to make sure they are working correctly? Did you check the AC? Did you check the heat?

These are all things the home inspector will do for you to make sure all the systems in the home are functioning properly. And if not, you are now armed with that information and you are able to go back and negotiate with the seller and maybe adjust the contract.

For instance, you may ask the seller to repair those things before you move forward. You may ask the seller to adjust the purchase price to account for some of the deficiencies. In some cases, you may want to get out of the purchase all together.

So, the simple answer to that question is yes, you do want to do a home inspection.
